How To Wear Bright Colours In The Winter – Seasonal Looks!

December 21, 2017

How to wear bright colours in the winter? Well, we have 10 days to go until it is 2018. So there are many end of year dinner parties, social meet-ups, and gatherings that require you to look your best. The weather is still gloomy and cold. And for some of us, we are still recovering from a recent cold. Well, I have actually. But nevertheless, looking chic and sassy is always at the forefront of our mind, if you love playing with your style and having fun with fashion, like me!

Bright Colours – I feel like naturally at this time of year we tend to shy away from the hues of yellow, pink, green and many other bright colours that come to mind. It seems like it is a safe, trendy option to wear grey, black or navy tones. But I love that I am seeing girls go bold confidently with colour this season, which I have seen on Instagram, blogs and just around the city in general. Girls are killing it playing with colour, rocking it like it is the new black.

On the runway, the Autumn must have colour has been red. A staple shade that was a consistent theme from YSL, Gucci, Prada to our favourite high street stores such as, Zara and H&M. Being bold this season, when I was sent this two-piece set from lotd.com I knew it was the perfect outfit to wear on a date night with my partner. I also threw it on again to wear to my girlfriends birthday party.

I warmed to this whole look because of the yellow mustard tone, which blends perfectly with my black faux fur coat. I have lived through this winter in this coat, it is warm, chic, and a classic statement outerwear that will never go out of style.

When wearing a bright colour, to balance it out I recommend to pair it with a classic outerwear, whether that is a blazer, long line coat or classic fur (depending on the occasion you are dressing for)

Seasonal Looks – The Satin Wrap Top and Detailed Denim

December 10, 2017

We are the in the thick of the festive season of Christmas and seasonal looks are in demand. Whether it is your work Christmas party, catching up with friends or heading out to dinner parties. There is a lot going on! It really is a fun and loving season. And of course, you need to be looking on point. Seasonal Looks - The Satin Wrap Top and Detailed Denim

In my last few posts, I have talked about ‘dressing casual’ cool and I still have kept that vibe when dressing up during this time of year.  Jeans is always a winner and I recently purchased new denim jeans from ASOS, which are so chic and luxe with the pearl detail that sits right underneath the front pockets, which are the perfect kind of denim to wear on a night out. I paired this up with an emerald wrap top from Nasty Gal, which I love as it an all rounder top to style up or down!

As you can also see, I have changed up my hair and doubled the length of my hair. I love it, I’ve always wanted ‘Naomi Campbell’ look and now I think I’ve achieved the look lol.

This time of year I definitely spend time reflecting on how the year has been. I am truly thankful because it has been a GREAT year. I always go back to my journal and re-read what I wanted to accomplish and see what I stuck too, what I missed and use this time to meditate and strategize going forward into the new year with new goals and wisdom from the lessons I have learned so far. I hope you too use this time to relax and not be so hard on yourself for what didn’t work out, as everything will happen in its own good time. Always focus on maintaining a mindset of gratitude because the best is yet to come!

That Winter Coat – Phillip Lim

October 23, 2017

Have You Got Your Winter Coat Yet? That Winter Coat That Everyone Is Talking About - Phillip Lim

Well, I have! Sort of. As you may have read in previous posts I’m all for comfortable clothing these days. Nothing comes more comfortable than a sung winter coats and jackets. That was one of my top items to shop for and did I get a bargain?! It is all down to @ldnsamplesales. It is a company that shares the latest designer sample sales. To be honest, when I saw that Phillip Lim was having a sample sale I wasn’t sold just because I didn’t want to spend any more money (as I have of recent) but then you know what happens when you and your girls together lol. Shopping! I ended up in the Phillip Lim sample with this amazing rabbit fur shearling waistcoat which retails at £1,200 but I got it for £50.00!

YES, £50.00 honestly sample sales is the best thing that I have discovered and I’m letting you know too! Winter Winter

I kept it simple and rocked a wide length PJ style trousers from MissGuided and a low cut oversized top. For a dressy look, I styled it with Pigalle’s which is a perfect look for a winter date night fit. But champion casual vibes, I do regularly wear the waistcoat with sneakers/vans, jeans, and a T-shirt. This stunning Phillip Lim gem jacket dresses up your day look so easy, which is great as I don’t have to put that much thought into your day look when I wear it.

Style and Truth Ethos – Nailed by Jigsaw’s Immigration Campaign

October 23, 2017

Style and Truth Ethos – Nailed by Jigsaw Immigration Campaign

Generally, some may say for a brand to center a campaign around a controversial political issue such as immigration is a big risk. Well, Jigsaw did that boldly and proudly and it worked!

Jigsaw

Jigsaw- Immigration Fall Campaign

Jigsaw recently launched a new campaign built around celebrating immigration as part of their promotion for its autumn/winter collection.

If you are commuting through central London you will have seen major ad campaign posters taking over Oxford Circus tube station in London and The Times website, as well as many print publications such as Stylist magazine, Metro newspaper, The Independent as well as across social and digital activity. The aim is to show how Jigsaw sources materials from across the world while making the point that without diversity its products couldn’t be made! Which is a strong global message to stand for inclusion and diversity

For this particular brand campaign, Jigsaw teamed up with Ancestry to help aid communicating the message of diversity and inclusion within the fashion industry! Celebrating the fact there are 45 different nationalities working within the Jigsaw business.

Led by agency The Corner, the campaign fits into a wider strategy and business ethos to stand for something other than just its product but the people who are responsible for making the clothes, or where the material is sourced. Jigsaw brand is now letting consumers know that they have a social purpose as part of its ‘Style and Truth’ ethos that was launched back in 2014.

Jigsaw

Jigsaw’s Marketing Director Alex Kelly expanding on the brands campaign idea and shared with Marketing Week that,  looking at the fashion industry and realised no one talks about the benefits of immigration or the debt we all owe to it,”One of our products could have Mongolian wool, Turkish satin, Chinese silk and Italian buttons, so the campaign will celebrate that diversity at a product level but also a broader level too with the DNA tests all our employees are doing. If other fashion brands follow suit then that’s great because there seems to be a lot of fear in this industry around taking a stand.

Jigsaw

Key Learnings

  • Brands should take more responsibility of taking a social stand within society as designers.
  • Explore what your brand vision is and look to include your ethos within your brand and seasonal campaigns. (you are what you say and show you are to your consumers) e.g. Jigsaw’s brand was built on immigration so they told you and showed you!
  • It is a big risk to be outspoken on political views, however, backed up by research and purpose it is a winning formula to captivate and engage your audience. And create a stronger relationship with your customers on a deeper emotional level.
  • Jigsaw is a great example of a brand that is championing for diversity and inclusion. Racism is a constant topic being challenged within all industries today especially fashion. Jigsaw is contributing to the solution by making diversity imperative to their consumer communication strategy!

Winter Colour Block – Mixing Textures and Colours Autumn 17

October 12, 2017

The afternoons are getting shorter and the evenings are getting longer, which means winter is here. I am easing my way into my winter wardrobe by mixing textures, colours. I am leaving towards comfortable looks which are still feminine, flirty and casual. As I get older my tolerance for the cold gets less and less. I can feel it in my bones more (basically I’m getting old lol).

Introducing you to my winter wardrobe

Winter Colour BlockWinter Colour Block

I brought back my pink fluffy jumper I got from H&M last winter, which I bought 2 sizes bigger, so it has that sung feel and drops on me like a hanger. I colour block this jumper with a satin finish rouge red A-line skirt, also from H&M. I love the clash of red and pink, it is a strong combination and really stands out, but also fits with the winter feel because of the clash of textures.

Adding some sass to this look I wore gold River Island heels that I have had for years that look identical to Aquazzara but are not lol. What I love about this look is, you can easily switch the heels with trainers and wear a pair of Stan Smiths and still look just as good.

So as I start to pull out my winter favourites, let me know what you would like to see and what your winter comfort go too’s?

Freedom – Your Place Of Solitude

August 6, 2017

“Freedom – Your Place Of Solitude”

Freedom - Your Place Of Solitude

Freedom is one of those intangible things that we all want. Whether it is financial freedom or career freedom we cannot deny our hunger for it. When I shot these pictures I had just got back from holiday and felt free lol. I spent a week not worrying about anything back in London, I just woke up looked at my boyfriend feeling grateful that God has blessed me with such an amazing man, we laughed together and decided what we wanted to do that day and we did what we wanted. Doesn’t that sound like freedom? Plus I had a beautiful tan which I cannot wait to top up again.

Freedom - Your Place Of Solitude

I have been doing some soul searching and out of all the things I want out of life like money, dream house, dream wardrobe lol. More than anything I want everlasting freedom. I googled freedom and have shared what the definition is of freedom:

“The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants.”

Freedom - Your Place Of Solitude

It doesn’t even mention money or any material substances you think provides freedom, which is a reminder that freedom starts from the mind and finding solitude in that.  Your circumstances good or bad does not define freedom it is more your state of mind.

Freedom - Your Place Of Solitude

This also has a connection to style. When I feel and look good I feel free. I feel at my best when I present my best authentic self,  that to me is also freedom. This is something I always want to evoke as my style journey evolves over time.  As we grow it’s so important to remember freedom is not through material things and more about freedom and happiness in the mind first!

5 Days In Morocco

July 10, 2017

5 days in paradise, 5 days with my love, 5 days in Morocco.

5 days In Morocco, felt like 5 days in serenity! It was an amazing holiday embracing the culture, new experiences, food, and language. And I want to share it with you and let you know about all the fun things you can do in Morroco.

Day 1

Day 1 is always an open day as you just arrive and settle in. Well, we did just that and more. Starting with our hotel, we stayed at the Dellarosa Hotel, in the center of Marrakesh. It is a small boutique hotel which was really cute and simple. It had a modern Moroccan decor hotel, which was really beautiful. The only downside was our hotel room decor was a dark brown, which wasn’t great for capturing makeup tutorials because t was too dark. Another not so nice experience was the breakfast the options were not too great. But other than that it was a lovely hotel, sometimes you take the good with the bad I guess. It was close to everything and everywhere, which was perfect for us!

To round up on day 1 – We went for an afternoon walk and had lunch/dinner then relaxed in the pool at our hotel and in the evening went to Famous 555 Club. It really cool club that played everything I wanted to hear. I definitely recommend you going there (but don’t turn up before 12 pm they party until 5 am, so 1 am is like early)

Day 2

It was an early start for a tourist day! I finally got to visit Rue Yves Saint Laurent garden. I didn’t know that it was originally owned by an architect Jardin Majorelle and then it was Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge then bought it once Jardin Majorelle passed away. To me, it’s a romantic creative story all about the love of art. And when you can there you feel it and see it.

We also went to the Moroccan market. It felt so authentic being in the midst of it, hearing locals call me and boyfriend brother and sister. Hearing them persuaded to purchase whatever they had to offer. To be honest we enjoyed it and laughed with them as we walked by.

Day 3

5 days In Morocco

We got active!!! Definitely my boyfriends favourite day. We went Quad biking in the desert and then went camel riding. You can usually book these excursions through your hotel and it is really cheap and a full day experience. One to tick off the bucket list!

5 days In Morocco

Day 4

Was a more fun!! We went to a beach house day party, it’s called Famous Beach and owned by the same people that run Club 555 that we went to on day 1. It’s a beautiful mansion, amazing decor (great to capture content) with many pools, Dj, restaurant, and bar. Everything you need in one place to relax and enjoy the sun!

Day 5 5 days In Morocco

Ending our holiday on a high, we went for a beautiful walk enjoying the Moroccan city. It really is a beautiful city, cultural with so much to do and experience. I didn’t get a chance to go the atlas mountain, which is on my wishlist for the next time I go there.

5 days In Morocco

I will also be sharing my FIRST VLOG – from this trip. I’m a freshman with Youtube so bare with me as I get to grips with it.

All items I wore are linked for you to shop away too.
