Live Your Best Life – Chronicles Of A Millenials Mind!

May 1, 2017

The goal is to live your best life. I repeat, the goal is to live your best life. Let me tell you why:

A few weeks since turning 26 I spent a few weeks in having so much fun. Enjoying my friends, love ones and just living life. Then randomly I had a moment, not just any moment. I had a mini-breakdown so to speak. I need to own my own home in two years. I need to be on ‘x’ amount of money by the end of the year. I need to have more freedom to achieve my dreams. The list goes on and on!…

live your best lifelive your best life

Then on day 2 of ‘Olivia’s self pity day’ lol anxiety had taking over mentally and physically. I couldn’t concentrate at all, I wanted to cry but had no specific reason. My mind was on overload with all the worry, doubt, fear, ANXIETY. You name it, I had it. It was awful. By the end of the day I was drained. Two days had gone by and I just moaned (well in my head), I let fear take over and rule my life for two whole days!

Then I had a moment where I just said to myself, you have wasted all this energy and look how far you have come ,NO WHERE. Then it hit me, what am I doing? Why am I letting this negative energy rule my mind? I have completely dismissed what I have achieved so far and what I am focused on. Then I saw this tweet and it was like an Oprah ‘AHA’ moment that happened to me. I read this quote which read: Don’t be a “only” if believer. Be a “even if” believer. Those words literally ran through my mind and body and swept that energy right away, that was drowning me for those two days. It really hit me, Why worry about the obstacle’s they will come but they will go. Just stay focused on what you can achieve on a day to day basis and LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE.

live your best life live your best life

The quote couldn’t be more right. Why spend time stressing and thinking about the negative when there is so much to be grateful for. It really hit home that it is the mind and I have the power to change what is wrong in my life right! You have the power. We all do, It’s our god given right. Since I flipped my thinking, it feels so good and feels so right. Life is short, so whatever you are doing in life enjoy it and if you are not, change your circumstances so that you can. Life did not come with a rule book, so do what is right for you! Don’t watch others, live your best life and most importantly seek the kingdom of god for guidance, he never will fail you!

Life Of A Marketing Girl

From Working For Wolford To Wolford Becoming Her Client – Meet Sidonie Goldman

April 23, 2017

#LifeOfAMarketingGirl Interview – Meet Sidonie Goldman

A PR and Marketing expert who left France 20 years ago for an internship that lead her to meet and work Joesph Ettedgui, then go on to head up Wolford EU marketing team and now has branched off to start her own agency!

I get to share with you how taking a leap of faith, can get you to the top! It doesn’t matter where you are from, what you believe is possible will be possible. Meet a dear friend and #BOSS in  her own right.

I get to share with you how taking a leap of faith, to start from the bottom! It doesn’t matter where you are from, what you believe is possible is possible. Meet a dear friend and #BOSS in  her own right.

What is your job role?

My job role is communicating with my clients on a very regular basis and reacting very quickly to what they need, planning and finding solutions based on ROI and ultimately increasing their T/O. It is also overlooking my small team and making sure we are all on the same page and working towards the same goal.

What does that entail?

I take care of my client’s needs daily. I do PR, Commercial Marketing and social for them. One day we do a photoshoot for a campaign or pitching a product to the press… It is really varied and this is what makes it so fun and interesting.

What big brands can you share that you have had the pleasure in working with?

I have worked with Joseph – working very closely with Mr Joseph Ettedgui himself, an incredibly inspirational man with a heart of gold. During this time, we were working with brands such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Sophia Kokosalakis, Pucci, Missoni, Costume National.

Sidonie Goldman

I then worked with Wolford and had the chance to be involved in collaborations with brands such as Vivienne Westwood, Giorgio Armani, Karl Lagerfeld. One of the very exciting moment at Wolford was launching the social media platform with Twitter from the UK. I remember working already with a few bloggers, at the time in 2008 it was quiet new!

How did you get into the industry?

I left France 20 years ago. I left my job for a non-paid internship that gave me the opportunity to get a “foot in the door” and start in the fashion industry. It was only after a year doing parcel collections and coffees that I got my job at Joseph getting back to PR which was what I had studied.

What would you say is special about your job?

The incredible opportunities to meet truly interesting and inspirational people all the time… I have learnt so much…

As a marketer, what do you think is the gem to propel you to success

Hard work, having a good work ethic and remaining focused on the commerciality of each project.

 Sidonie Goldman

In the Industry do you look up to any other women in your field?

Most of the time I loved to hear what Jane Shepherdson had to say. I went to one of her talks, she was amazing and fearless with a very good entrepreneurship head on her shoulders.

I also have a friend Emma Sinclair, she is an amazing woman – the youngest in the UK to have IPO’d her company at 28 years old. She is a business mentor and a UN business ambassador. I always love being with her and listening to all her stories. She is incredibly strong and focused and is also great at introducing people to each other – a super woman!

What is the most rewarding campaign

When I was working for Wolford we were pushing a collection which was slightly different from what the brand was normally doing. It was a collection of very visual and sexy hosiery – not for everyone! I got in touch with Cheryl Cole’s stylist. Cheryl was then the new judge on the X-Factor and on a Sunday night during the semi-final and in front of 10 millions viewers, Cheryl introduced her new album and was wearing a pair of Wolford tights and a blazer.. and nothing else…!

It was a bit of a surreal moment – it was before social media so I was jumping up and down on my sofa screaming!!

The following day, Wolford sold out of the “Cheryl tights” on and off line and had to re-order 600 pairs for the UK.

One customer even came to one of the stores and asked to purchase 40 pairs for her hen night!!!

#GOALS !!

Wolford

Who was/is your greatest teacher?

I have a few!

I have learned so much about high fashion from Joseph.

My father taught me intuition, process and hard work, he is always pushing me out of my comfort zone.

My husband taught me business, he is incredibly good at numbers and I am not!! He is also very calm and pushes me to budget, forecast, business planning, he can “read” an Xcel file like a book, its amazing!  etc..

Also in luxury fashion/lifestyle, I always ask myself, would I buy this or would I be happy about the experience if I was the client? Attention to details is an absolute must and nothing should be rushed.

Most valuable lesson

Managing my time, prioritizing and knowing to delegate.

Last words:

My family again and again!

Keeping up or staying True to you? Let’s discuss!

A conversation that me and my friends have been having as of lately has been about style. Today so many trends are popping up, as fast fashion is getting faster, it’s like playing catch-up. But then don’t you think sometimes that you start to lose your sense of personal style! To be honest I think that’s what happened to me at the end of 2016. I was trying looks that I actually wouldn’t wear and it was difficult to put certain looks together.  Now I am taking it back to basics and working with what naturally is my core style and inspirational sources and iconic fashion brands that I love!

For example, Farfetch have a style guide segment on their site which talks about various different style habits and trends that refers back to adapting to your personal style. A big one for me that I have got inspiration from is ‘What To Wear With White Jeans. I LOVE wearing white. It is clean, classic and goes so well with everything. A style guide on this is a great go to help for me to style my white jeans with various looks.

Fashion is always evolving and you may not have the time or money to be trying to keep up with. This is where style comes in and using what you have to re-create amazing looks that embodies what your style is. Not what’s just hot for now!

I speak to myself here and you too, let’s bring it back to basics and build out style, so that when we look back. We will be telling our kids, look child I was so hot in my twenties, I know about fashion take a look here! That is going to be such a funny time In many years to come!

The Girl Power Pink That Is Taking Over Social Media!

March 23, 2017

Want to know why today, pink colour palletes are taking over social media! Some may call it millennial pink & it’s not going away anytime soon.

You can call it Tumblr Pink. Girl Power Pink. Even feminist Pink! One of Pantone’s colour  references for the shade is – Pink Flambe! Whatever you may consider it to be, it’s hear to stay and I can tell you why!

Let’s take it back a little. When you were a little girl, pink is the first colour that most girls identify with. Some may say it represents the signature Barbie, girly girls and the ‘typical’ idealistic ideas and connotation of a female. Fast forward to 2016 the feminine shade is bigger than the infamous Barbie doll. The tone has now evolved to hold a whole new meaning to PINK.

Girl Power Pink

What does ‘Millenial Pink’ mean in 2017?

The girl you think that cares about looking pretty – she can run a business, wear 5’inch heels, give birth to some babies and make a house a home, basically women are the foundations to life. However we are not perfect but we matter and basically we are the bomb.com! The millennial pink shade is taking the traditional consensus gender role and flipping it on it’s head – owning its power with a new depth of influence.

In 2016 it was called the Tumblr pink according to @NY Mag and has since developed into a palette of tones that we have never seen before, even though we have, it’s just the meaning is something completely different now!

Some of your favourite fashion brand as embracing this shade espeacially with SS17 collections. Brands such as Zara, Topshop and sme your favourite designers by the likes of: Rihanna Fenty x Puma, Valentino, Balenciaga and Celine are all hot on Pink.

It makes you think from a marketing perspective how powerful colour Influences trends, culture, brand relevance and even buying behaviour. In the world of fashion and feminism – Millennial Pink stands for all females out there, A combination of stylish, fashionable girls/women who are passionate about their purpose, career, embracing their sexual power whilst maintaining being and a GIRL BOSS!

Let the Millennial Pink reign on!

Spring Is Here Or Nah?

March 15, 2017

It’s Mid-March and I hope that means spring is here. But I won’t hold my breath, London is very temperamental and before you know it we are in a season of constant rain. Winter is boring now, wearing jumpers is annoying and the cold is quite depressing. Spring is cooler, you can enjoy the day for longer and for me, personally it makes me happier and positive.

I’ve been really keen on spring because I want to play with colour & be more confident with a variety of shades that I choose. So basically I need the sun to give me a an excuse to wear red trousers and a pink shirt (that is quite a colour combo trend for summer FYI)

Last year I kept it safe. Neutral colour palettes are the staple pieces in my wardrobe currently. Even though that is cool, it feels very bland and safe. To be honest that is not the space that I am in at all. I want to experiment with my style, push the envelope (within remit lol).

So when I saw these red flare trousers from Zara I was like yassss, there so classy, a real staple piece. The top is also a hot piece too, the puffer sleeves giving me vintage Vivienne Westwood, Oscar De La Renta, I love it. When I saw it I was thinking £20.00 for a luxury look and feel sold!

So I guess this is a start, again sticking to building a classic wardrobe whilst incorporating colour. I definitely will be sharing more colour, shapes and fun vibes!

Summer we are waiting for you!

Want To Get Into Digital Fashion Marketing – Meet Tasha Antwi

March 12, 2017

From studying digital marketing in University and having an idea that digital fashion was the future. To Now Working with Bottega Veneta, Ralph Lauren and even Blackberry.

Meet Tasha Antwi.

Get to know how SEO content, blogger outreach and influencer marketing is a #GirlBoss career!

Digital Fashion Marketing

What is your job role?

Organic Performance Team Lead & Digital PR

What does that entail?

I’m the lead on 4 accounts, providing SEO consultation on on-site and off-site SEO and content marketing. I work on overall SEO and content marketing strategy, blogger outreach and publications.

I’m also looking after the new Digital PR offering due to launch this year. This will involve upscaling influencer marketing, and identifying grass-root influencers.

What big brands can you share that you have had the pleasure of working with?

Early on in my career I had the pleasure of working with big brands such as Bottega Veneta, Ralph Lauren, Mr Porter, Barbour, New Look, Kurt Geiger, BlackBerry and much more!

How did you get into the industry?

I actually came across SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) while doing my dissertation at university, which was all about online advertising in fashion. At the time, I knew I wanted to work in marketing, working with big fashion brands and digitally.

Back then SEO, and ranking highly in Google, became a big thing as ranking highly in Google but you in the position to drive the most traffic to your website.

As a marketer what do you think is the gem to propel you to success?

Working for a data led digital marketing agency, it’s been exciting to see how data can be used in such a clever way to formulate marketing strategies. Being proactive in learning and becoming an expert in this ‘new idea’, testing it and showing results is what makes you stand out. Especially when it comes to Digital Marketing.

In the industry do you look up to any other women in your field? If no, do you think there is a lack of e.g. female CMO’s, female creative marketers and female mentors?

One person I look up to in the industry is Jenny Thompson who is the Head of Data and Advanced Analytics at Forward 3D. She is the most down to earth person I’ve ever met, and is soo smart and compelling.

I do feel there is a lack of women in senior management positions, especially women of colour. Unfortunately when it comes to tech and digital marketing, we just don’t get enough women of colour applying for roles!

What is the most rewarding campaign or achievable win that you are most proud of?

Ralph Lauren, I was proud to be a part of the Abbey Road campaign, promoting the launch of their 60’s inspired AW14 collection. I was in charge of inviting influencers to the event, and designing and creating additional content around the collection – to outreach and gain placements online.

Who/what is your greatest teacher?

My greatest teacher would be my faith. Being a Christian is what makes me who I am, and is the foundation of all my values. Values that shine through at work, which I hope one day also inspires people. Matthew 19:26 “But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

What is your most valuable lesson?

One of the most valuable lessons I learned from my dad. He was a man full of regret about the things he didn’t get to achieve in his life, due to various situations. He taught me to always take chances, what’s the worst that could happen?!

You can fail but then you would be at peace knowing you tried that thing you always wanted to do.

Now thats a Marketing Girl Boss!!
