Be Free!

August 16, 2016

Another style post but more importantly a post with a message and its simple be free! Do not allow yourself to be defined by your job or your title, how many hustles you have going on and a big one for this millennial generation, ‘what do you do?’

You is just enough before any of these additional applications come into play. I, myself recently experienced this. I would hold onto my job title, who and what I was affiliated with to feel like I’m on the level of where I am supposed to be as the next 25 year old girl. When things changed I then questioned everything! Who am I, people asked me questions and I couldn’t answer as they were questions linked to being defined by my title or job and I didn’t have that so I was like well….nothing. But it is not true, you will always have an answer, right in front of them, and it is yourself!

Be free and own being yourself, it is the most freeing discovery ever, and as a result things have fully changed and changed for the better and opened up a bigger sense of purpose, just from a result of owning being me. So be free, except who you are and never let another person, job, or anything define you. You define yourself and that is the most freeing thing ever!

So my style post is me, Olivia Gold, being free in a green mini dress, YSL heels and Levi denim jacket.

God is good and he will always show you the light!

Some Old, Some New But Its Cute!

August 10, 2016

I have been trying to be more creative with what’s new and old in my wardrobe. It feels like up to four times a year I really look at all my clothes and think what the hell is all of this rubbish?! I just start to not appreciate all my bargains, classic staple pieces and even fun seasonal random purchases that I have accumulated over the years. It is so funny how we switch up our minds on everything. But now I am not going to cry that I don’t have clothes and really appreciate all my fashion buys as it all a part of my style evolution.

Saying all of the above I took it back a little and wore this crop top that I got last year from Misguided and paired it with this ASOS skirt that I had never worn before! When I purchased it, it was too big but as I have gained a little weight (yes I am now a bottom size 10 and proud) it now fits perfectly. It is such a simple two piece outfit but as the blue is quite a strong shade of indigo blue, it really adds a chic vibe to it, along with the lace choker too!

So I have mixed some old and some new and love this outfit, try it and see what looks you pull together!

Be You, Be Yourself, It Is Enough!

July 19, 2016

This year has definitely been one so far filled with a lot of ups and downs, people judging and not always having genuine intentions. You present your best self at all time but to them you’re not what they looking for. What does that even mean?

I have come across a lot of negative, condescending people in this industry (work specifically) who didn’t want my light to shine at all. Who I am and who I represent myself as, is not enough for them or what they ideally would like. To be honest I have come to terms with that and I will explain why further down. It is a shame that the ‘creative fashion industry’ doesn’t take to diversity as much as they say they do but I will not let that stop me, I may not be who they want but I am enough, I have something unique to offer just like anyone else.

I am talking about a few recent experiences this year that has concluded to the same thing such as points like this; the ‘ideal’ girl for this role or the ‘person’ we are looking for…When I heard phrases like this said me to me, I laughed inside because I do exactly what the opportunity and skill set requires but it’s not enough? What are they picturing that I am not giving you? What are they seeing that they feel is not the right fit? I have been told that my blog is a conflict of interest, with no explanation. I was told my outside of work activities was breeching my contract, which was helping a friend on her amazing event. Anything I did was an issue, they were always looking to highlight what they thought was wrong. It’s funny because I got advise from my mentor and other girl bosses in the industry who I would consult on any queries my worked flagged just to cross check if I was doing anything wrong or not and they would always reassure me, what I am doing is just fine.

My horrible experiences of not being accepted once made me question my ability and question my passion for a minute, crazy right! But I never stray too far from my truth and who Olivia Gold is, I know who I am and know what I have to offer and I will NEVER let anyone make me question myself again. If you don’t like me because I am not the right fit then so be it GOODBYE. Sometimes god opens your eyes and reveals the unexpected.

I know my worth and I know my purpose. I share this with you, as encouragement and a note to myself to never give up, we are all going through trials and it is not a race so don’t watch what others are doing. Focus on you and stay away from the noise, be still and let god guide you. Very soon, someone will appreciate ALL you have to offer.

White T & Some Chuck Taylors

July 18, 2016

There is nothing more convenient sometimes than wearing a white t-shirt and jeans and going about your day. The key to casual comfortable basics for me are having quality transitional pieces that can live in your wardrobe through the seasons and ever changing trends. For me that starts off with Comme Des Garcon Play x Converse sneakers  classic pair that goes with most of my day to day outfits and are really comfortable to wear from morning to night, i got these from Farfetch, one of the best online shopping sites and plus they even have botuiques too, where you can purchase the items that you havealso seen online, giving you the option for either a online or instore shopping experience! This weekend I headed to Love Box Festival and they were my go to trainers to dance away in. I shot some pics of what I usually wear my chuck Taylors with and to be honest I wore them all weekend. Check out my Instagram to see my other outfit pictures this past weekend.

Keeping It Blush

May 26, 2016

Keeping things blush and trying to keep spring vibes around, I wore a light pink shirt a few weeks ago and styled it with a classic pair of white, wide leg trousers.  Tailored cuts are forever a staple piece in one’s wardrobe! I couldn’t tell you how many times I have worn these trousers and in so many ways! Outfits like this remind me why it is so key to collect timeless stylish pieces and store them away; and this right here, is one of them!

2 years ago I made it a rule to ONLY shop for classic pieces that I could have for a long time and when I look at this outfit it reminds why! Simple, classic and forever chic. Style is supposed to be easy for every day and fun for a great occasion but most importantly creating everlasting fashion moments. I will definitely be picking up my classic piece mantra and let you know what else I purchase!

The Leg Wrap

May 19, 2016

Shoes, shoes shoes! When I see a beautiful pair of heels its a match made in heaven! I was shopping with my family a few weeks ago and I came aross these Stuart Weitzman Leg Wrap heels, I was so drawn, the purchase experience took place within 5 minutes of looking at them.

Since I became aware of the brand in 2014 I have been a fan of thier classic style and quaility leather material used to piece a simple but detailed shoe designs. I think the Leg Wrap heels are fun, chic and sassy for the summer season. you can dress it up or down and I went for a dress down look, keeping it casual because thats how my life has been; casual day to day outfitd for work and to be honest life has been positivly busy!

So I styled my new Stuart Weitzman with Levi Vinatge jeans and a Wolford Filigra Lace Pullover taking advantage of Londons sun that was beaming.

Whats your summer shoe favourite this season?
