Girl On A Mission – Entering Chapter 27

As I turn 27 within the next few days, I have been reflecting on how far I have come. I feel like as I get older I am a girl on a mission. I am more focus now more than over, I feel very centred in where I am in life and feel very content with it. Don’t get me wrong I continue to strive for so much more and my ambition is only growing. But I have come to understand that you really have to be ok with where you are now in life to prepare yourself for what is coming ahead of you.
26 has still been a fun age and I have grown so much, the wisdom that I have now makes me cherish any pain or misfortune that I have experienced in the past whether personally or professionally. I have come to realise It is all about of my journey.

As I go into my 27th year of life, I now know that as much as you plan your life it will never be linear and anything can happen. What I am sure of is the key goals I want to achieve. I am so sure of visualisation and verbally proclaiming your blessing ahead of time, as things really become what you speak. To give an example. I wrote in my journal at the beginning of 2017 that I would love to write for Marketing week, by November 2017 I was on Marketing Week as a marketing guest on tier podcast. And It didn’t even stop there. In March 2018 they reached out again and asked to contribute to an article and out of all the speaker my name and image was used as the main marketer for this article, giving me and my initiative so much coverage and awareness. This was all completely beyond what I thought I could achieve. And it all started with a ‘mustard seed’ approach by writing down one small goal.

I really am a girl on a mission, my dreams are so big that it scares me! But I am so excited about it because it is exciting, daunting but all amazing. We have one life and I am committed and focused on assuring I fulfil my purpose and enjoy what I have been blessed with. I have amazing siblings and family, a strong solid friendship that are basically family and an amazing partner. Cheers to the 26 years and 27 I am ready for you!

Spring Is Here – Yellow and Orange Colour Palette

I am so excited for Spring and can finally say it is here, well kind of. London has been confused with the weather conditions. one minute its nice outside, the next day its raining. But with the longer brighter days it’s all a good sign. 

This time of year I really start to have fun with my wardrobe, my style comes to life during spring/summer season. I like to play with colour, shapes and textures. And not having to worry about layering to keep warm or your whole outfit being overpowered by a huge coat. That is a style killer for me to be honest.

What are you guys looking forward to this summer? For me, it’s travelling exploring London, working on cool projects and most if all ‘living my best life’! 

I shot this really cool spring look, wearing yellow tailored Zara pants that I got in the sale. I paired it with old season H&M studio blouse. It really gives a bit of the 70’s style with the baggy arms and turtleneck detail, which I love. I paired it with black Stuart Weitzman sandal heels for a classic finish. I know that I could dress it down but personally, i think heels give it a classy finish.

Yellow and orange are set to be s big colour trend for spring/summer 19, which I got into on during a fashion trend forecasting meeting at work. These tones remind me of the winter leaves fallen due to autumn being over and making room for new vibrant green leaves to grow and welcome the summer season. I shot this look next to vintage Bentley, which gave a great visual representation of London and the city that I live in. Would you rock this look? The Classic Flare – Comfortable And Bold With Colour

The classic flare is a piece that I have been buying and wearing more and more. It really helped me get through 2017 winter and this continued crappy cold weather here. 

Recently I purchased his red turtleneck from H&M. A classic bright rouge red that is a great fit and works with any bottom paired. Most importantly it was only £5.00. I paired it with these PJ style wide length pants from Missguided and faced the windy weather in style.

Is my wardrobe ageing before my time?

This weekend it was planned for me and the girls to head out to a few events, as it was a few friends birthday celebrations and I was looking for an outfit to wear, and I realised that didn’t have any party wear. Which is crazy to me, I have always been a girl that enjoys going out and had the outfits, the freakum’s dresses, the sexy playsuits. BUT NOW, I open my wardrobe and it’s like all I have is day outfits. Cute outfits to wear to brunch, weddings and church attire. All my sexy outfits have got lost in the mix ‘growing up and maturing my wardrobe’ I have lost my touch to maintain the sexy essence that I like to wear when going out. 

So next missing is bringing the sexy back. Of course, I will need to have actual plans for date night moments, more clubbing and girls night out dinner dates. To be honest this will definitely encourage me to live my best life, be sexy and enjoy look my best whether it is being chic or sexy. So stay tuned for the ultimate sexy glo up!

On my Instagram, I shared my 2018 style muse is kahlana Barfield Brown. She is the queen of layering and wearing wide leg detailed trousers. I fell in love with her style have added her vibe to my mood board. 

 

I haven’t done much shopping this new year sale as I didn’t really see anything that I wanted to add to my wardrobe. Which is unfortunate as a shopping geek. But what caught my eye, were these Zara stripe trousers that were completely giving me Khalana vibes. So I had to purchase. Continuing with my casual, chic comfort theme, layering has been a really cool way to play with colours, patterns, and my personal style.

Being a curvy girl (slim thick) you can get caught up trying to dress for your shape, making sure you hug the right places. But after a while, that can get a bit boring and played out. I think the Fashionva girls have got that covered (no shade, as I genuinely love my curves and showing them). But this is why I was so drawn to kahlana, she plays with bigger shape trousers, oversized t-shirts or jumper and kills it with a killer heel. It is the perfect balance of casual cool for a girly girl.

So I’m starting to purchase wide length bottoms that have detail, such as the stripe in these. I hope to find more and will document this journey on my Instagram, so make sure that you are following me. keeping it simple, I paired these with an oversized shirt and a leather jacket. I was even thinking if I wanted to add more ‘spice’ to this look, it would be super chic if I put on a beige/taupe waistcoat.

How to wear bright colours in the winter? Well, we have 10 days to go until it is 2018. So there are many end of year dinner parties, social meet-ups, and gatherings that require you to look your best. The weather is still gloomy and cold. And for some of us, we are still recovering from a recent cold. Well, I have actually. But nevertheless, looking chic and sassy is always at the forefront of our mind, if you love playing with your style and having fun with fashion, like me!

Bright Colours – I feel like naturally at this time of year we tend to shy away from the hues of yellow, pink, green and many other bright colours that come to mind. It seems like it is a safe, trendy option to wear grey, black or navy tones. But I love that I am seeing girls go bold confidently with colour this season, which I have seen on Instagram, blogs and just around the city in general. Girls are killing it playing with colour, rocking it like it is the new black.

On the runway, the Autumn must have colour has been red. A staple shade that was a consistent theme from YSL, Gucci, Prada to our favourite high street stores such as, Zara and H&M. Being bold this season, when I was sent this two-piece set from lotd.com I knew it was the perfect outfit to wear on a date night with my partner. I also threw it on again to wear to my girlfriends birthday party.

I warmed to this whole look because of the yellow mustard tone, which blends perfectly with my black faux fur coat. I have lived through this winter in this coat, it is warm, chic, and a classic statement outerwear that will never go out of style.

When wearing a bright colour, to balance it out I recommend to pair it with a classic outerwear, whether that is a blazer, long line coat or classic fur (depending on the occasion you are dressing for)

 In my last few posts, I have talked about ‘dressing casual’ cool and I still have kept that vibe when dressing up during this time of year.  Jeans is always a winner and I recently purchased new denim jeans from ASOS, which are so chic and luxe with the pearl detail that sits right underneath the front pockets, which are the perfect kind of denim to wear on a night out. I paired this up with an emerald wrap top from Nasty Gal, which I love as it an all rounder top to style up or down!

As you can also see, I have changed up my hair and doubled the length of my hair. I love it, I’ve always wanted ‘Naomi Campbell’ look and now I think I’ve achieved the look lol. 

This time of year I definitely spend time reflecting on how the year has been. I am truly thankful because it has been a GREAT year. I always go back to my journal and re-read what I wanted to accomplish and see what I stuck too, what I missed and use this time to meditate and strategize going forward into the new year with new goals and wisdom from the lessons I have learned so far. I hope you too use this time to relax and not be so hard on yourself for what didn’t work out, as everything will happen in its own good time. Always focus on maintaining a mindset of gratitude because the best is yet to come!
